Day one ends in a Shoreline neighborhood platted in 1941

Ridgecrest sits in the southeast corner of Shoreline, bounded by NE 175th Street, NE 145th Street, 15th Avenue NE and Interstate 5. Its name comes from a plat submitted on 17 February 1941 by the real estate developers Myrick R. and Georgie W. Wood. Ridgecrest Elementary became operational in September 1948, built for a fast-growing student population, and in 1949 the Crest Theater was added to the business district.

The neighborhood association describes a commercial hub at 5th Avenue NE and NE 165th Street, with a historic movie theater, a café, restaurants, community art and an independent bookstore, and housing that runs from single-storey 1930s and 1940s houses to brand-new multifamily buildings. There is a Link light rail station in the neighborhood, at 5th Avenue NE and NE 148th Street. Ridgecrest is the first place on this route where the walk stops being a city and starts being a chain of neighborhoods.

Registries are built out of young adults. NMDP accepts new members between the ages of 18 and 35, and the swab kit costs nothing.
