Cookie & Analytics Notice

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you use the site.

This page explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on the Jada Bascom Foundation website, why we use them, and how you can control them.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential functionality: Making sure our website works properly (such as remembering your preferences)
  • Analytics: Understanding how visitors use our website so we can improve it
  • Fundraising and outreach: Measuring the effectiveness of our awareness campaigns

Types of Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

We use essential cookies for features such as secure access and remembering your privacy choices.

Analytics Cookies

We use analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with our website. This helps us improve the user experience and make our content more useful. Analytics cookies collect information such as:

  • Which pages are visited most often
  • How long visitors spend on each page
  • How visitors navigate through the site
  • General geographic location (country level)
  • Device and browser type

Analytics services may process identifiers and technical information about individual visits. Aggregate reports do not mean that all underlying analytics data are anonymous.

Functional Cookies

These cookies remember choices you make (such as your preferred color theme) to provide a more personalized experience.

Registry-Count Preference

Our daily country counter records totals when people follow registry links. It stores no individual click history and operates separately from optional analytics and advertising cookies. You can exclude this browser in Cookie Preferences or on our Privacy Policy page.

If you turn counting off, we set the preference cookie jbf_registry_counts to off for one year. We use it only to honor that choice. Turning counting back on removes the cookie. Deleting or blocking the cookie prevents us from remembering your objection; deleting it restores the default of including clicks in daily totals.

Analytics Services We Use

We use the following analytics services on our website:

Google Analytics (GA4)

Google Analytics helps us understand page views, traffic sources, and use of the website, subject to the applicable consent settings. Google may process identifiers and other technical data under its own policies. Our explicit registry-conversion event is sent only after an analytics choice permits it.

Google Tag Manager

We use Google Tag Manager to load and manage tracking tags. Loading the service and its tags can involve requests to Google and other providers. The information they process depends on the tags, their configuration, and the applicable consent settings.

Meta Pixel

We may use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our awareness campaigns on social media. This helps us understand how people engage with our content and reach more potential supporters.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our website are placed by third-party services we use:

  • GiveButter: Our donation platform may set cookies when you visit donation pages
  • Cloudflare: Provides website security and performance optimization
  • Social media: If we embed content from platforms like YouTube or Facebook, they may set their own cookies

These third-party services have their own privacy and cookie policies. We encourage you to review them if you have concerns.

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You have several options for managing cookies:

Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device
  • Delete individual cookies or all cookies
  • Block cookies from specific websites
  • Block all cookies (though this may affect website functionality)
  • Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set

Check your browser's help section for instructions on how to manage cookies. Common browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

Opt-Out Tools

You can opt out of certain analytics and advertising cookies:

  • Google Analytics: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Digital Advertising Alliance: Visit optout.aboutads.info
  • Network Advertising Initiative: Visit optout.networkadvertising.org

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. Our website does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can use the cookie management options described above to control tracking.
