Every bone marrow drive starts with one person who decides to act. That person could be you.
What Is a Registration Drive?
A registration drive is an event where people learn about donation and start joining the official bone marrow registry for where they live, usually on their own phone. They answer a short health questionnaire on the registry's site. In the U.S., NMDP then mails a free cheek-swab kit to their home to complete and send back. Other registries set their own steps, timing and costs; find the registry where you live.
Once the registry has their sample, they are listed as a potential donor. If the registry lists its donors in the World Marrow Donor Association's international search, patients in other countries can find them too. The Jada Bascom Foundation does not run a registry, supply swab kits or process samples. We help people find the right registry and understand what joining means.
Who Can Host?
Anyone with a venue and a willingness to spread the word.
Schools and Universities
Host a drive during orientation, homecoming, or a health fair. In the US, NMDP asks for new members aged 18 to 35, so a campus reaches exactly the people registries most need.
Workplaces
Organize a lunch-hour drive or incorporate registration into a wellness event. Many employers support volunteer initiatives with matching gifts.
Faith Communities
Add a registration table before or after services. Many congregations have embraced drives as an extension of their commitment to serving others.
Sports Teams and Clubs
Gyms, leagues, and athletic organizations bring together healthy, active individuals — exactly who registries need.
Families and Individuals
Honor a loved one, celebrate a milestone, or simply take action. Living room drives, backyard gatherings, and community events all count.

Important: How Registration Works
Point everyone to our registry finder at jadabascomfoundation.org/how-do-i-find-my-bone-marrow-registry. When a guest is ready:
- They scan the QR code on your sheet or open the finder on their phone
- They choose their country to find its official registry
- They complete registration on that registry’s own site
- The registry handles the cheek swab and makes every eligibility decision
Please never collect health details or payment from guests. Joining NMDP is free, and the registry asks its own questions.
