The planned 10.4-mile stage reaches Blyn. The Olympic Discovery Trail carries part of the region’s railway history, alongside road sections that need their own attention.
Blyn is the named destination after Carlsborg in the itinerary, before the route continues toward Discovery Bay. The chapter follows the northern Olympic Peninsula, linking communities that are close on a regional map but separated into distinct planned walking days.
The Olympic Discovery Trail preserves pieces of a much older transport network. Its stewards describe five original railway trestles converted for trail use. Bridges and former grades make the railway’s presence visible even where trains no longer run, carrying people walking, cycling and rolling through the landscape.
The trail’s Blyn guidance also describes a section shared with Old Blyn Highway and calls for care around traffic. Here the trail and road meet, with traffic sharing part of the passage. The planned stage is 10.4 miles, followed by the day toward Discovery Bay.
