No verified way to join yet. That doesn’t mean there isn’t one. Here’s what we checked.

Browsing from another country? See how joining works where you live.

What you can do today

  • If you live somewhere else most of the year

Registries usually sign up people where they live. If that’s another country, look up how joining works there.

Find the registry where you live

  • Look at the world list

The World Marrow Donor Association keeps a list of registries around the world. It’s a place to look. It doesn’t mean one signs up people who live in Ecuador.

Open the World Marrow Donor Association’s list (opens in a new tab)

  • Learn how matching works

Why a match is hard to find, and why people of every background are needed on registries.

    Why matching is hard

  • If you’re a patient or family member

Ask the treating hospital whether it can search registries in other countries for an unrelated donor. We don’t know yet how that works in Ecuador.

  • Know of a registry here?

Tell us its name. We’ll look into it, and if we can verify it, this page will say so with the date.

What we checked

Before saying there’s no way to join that we’ve verified, we looked in these places. We’ll look again by Mar 18, 2027.

  1. The World Marrow Donor Association’s lists of registries and donor centers, in English, Oct 11, 2026.
  2. Official websites, in Spanish, Oct 11, 2026:
    • Gobierno del Ecuador (gob.ec) - INDOT
    • INDOT
    • Ministerio de Salud Pública (MSP)
  3. 2 web searches for a registry or donor center, in Spanish and English, Oct 11, 2026.
  4. We couldn’t open INDOT’s website when we tried on Oct 11, 2026. That tells us nothing about whether it offers a way to join.

What would change this: a registry or donor center that says, on its own site or in the World Marrow Donor Association’s lists, that it signs up people who live in Ecuador.

Questions

Can I join a registry in another country?

Most registries we’ve checked sign up only people who live in their own country or region. If a registry ever says it accepts people who live in Ecuador, this page will say so.

How often do you check?

We’ll look again by Mar 18, 2027, and sooner if someone tells us about a registry.

Is giving blood the same as joining?

Giving blood helps patients who need transfusions. It doesn’t put you on a stem cell donor registry unless that registry says it does.

Who is the Jada Bascom Foundation?

We’re a US charity. We don’t run a registry and can’t sign anyone up. We look for registries that sign up people where they live, and we say plainly when we haven’t found one.

Know of a registry in Ecuador?

Tell us its name. We’ll look into it, and if we can verify it, this page will say so with the date. Our contact form doesn’t accept web addresses, so the name is enough.
