In Guatemala, the private Hospital Herrera Llerandi said in May 2025 that it had done nine marrow transplants, using a related donor or the patient’s own cells, Emisoras Unidas reported. 8

Are stem cell transplants done in Guatemala?
Emisoras Unidas reported in May 2025 that Hospital Herrera Llerandi’s nine marrow transplants were two from related donors and seven with patients’ own cells, done in Guatemala’s only “bubble room,” a sealed room with HEPA filters. 8
Has Guatemala announced a registry or a law?
AGN, Guatemala’s government news agency, reported that on May 30, 2022 the president announced a national transplant center to bring corneal, liver, kidney and bone marrow transplants together in one place. 9
AGN reported in May 2022 that Guatemala’s health minister said the planned national transplant center could be at the Hospital de Villa Nueva, though its location was still being evaluated. 9
