As of , we haven’t found a bone marrow donor registry that people who live in Cabo Verde can join. That doesn’t mean there isn’t one. Cabo Verde published a law on donating organs, tissues and cells in June 2024 and did its first kidney transplant on Mar 24, 2026, but we found nothing on stem cell donation. 8 9

Can people in Cabo Verde join a registry abroad?

South Africa’s two registries take only people who live in South Africa: on Oct 11, 2026, DKMS Africa’s form asked first whether you live there, and SABMR excluded anyone not living there, so people in Cabo Verde can’t join either from home. 5 6

Are stem cell transplants done in Cabo Verde?

Cabo Verde’s Ministry of Health says patients are evacuated abroad to Portugal under a collaboration agreement between the two countries, in a process involving several institutions in both, and that investing in dialysis and diagnostics has cut evacuations of kidney patients to Portugal. 10

Has Cabo Verde announced a registry or a law?

Cabo Verde’s Law 39/X/2024, published on June 6, 2024, sets rules on the quality and safety of donating and collecting human organs, tissues and cells for diagnosis, treatment or transplant. 9

Cabo Verde’s parliament unanimously approved the organ transplant bill on Dec 8, 2023, the Ministry of Health said; the law sets up a national register of people who refuse to donate after death, the RENNDA, not a register of stem cell donors. 8 9

Cabo Verde’s Law 39/X/2024 allows living people to donate regenerable tissues or cells for treatment or transplant. A minor may donate them only if no compatible donor with legal capacity exists, the patient is a direct-line relative or a brother or sister, and the donation is needed to keep the patient alive. 9
