The Pint-Sized Recruiter

Discover how kids can help spread the word about helping others, even if they cannot donate themselves.

Learning Objective

Students will understand that while kids cannot donate, they can be "pint-sized recruiters" by encouraging the adults in their lives to learn about helping others.

Materials

  • "Pint-Sized Hero" cards (one per student) — printable from this lesson
  • Crayons or markers for decorating
  • Chart paper from previous lessons

Script / Talking Points

Review (3 min)

  • "Let's remember what we've learned this week!"
  • Review the chart: community helpers, blood (delivery trucks), the factory in bones, sharing
  • "We learned that healthy grown-ups can share something special to help people whose factories need fixing."

Kids as Helpers (5 min)

  • "Now, here's an important question: Can kids share their cells like grown-ups?"
  • "No, not yet. Our bodies are still growing, and that's okay!"
  • "But guess what? Kids can STILL be helpers!"
  • "How? By being Pint-Sized Recruiters!"

What Is a Pint-Sized Recruiter? (5 min)

  • "'Pint-sized' means small—like you! A 'recruiter' is someone who asks others to join a team."
  • "A Pint-Sized Recruiter is a kid who tells grown-ups about how they can help."
  • "You can tell your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or neighbors about what you learned!"
  • "You might say: 'Did you know there are people who need help, and grown-ups can be heroes by sharing healthy cells?'"
  • "You don't have to tell anyone what to do—just share what you know!"

Pint-Sized Hero Card (5 min)

  • "Today you're going to make a special card to take home."
  • "It's called a 'Pint-Sized Hero' card because YOU are a hero for learning about this and sharing!"
  • "You can give it to a grown-up you love and tell them what you learned."

Closing (2 min)

  • "I'm so proud of all of you for being such great learners!"
  • "Remember: You are ALREADY helpers, just by learning and sharing. That makes you heroes!"
